After Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance, “Today Show” anchor Savannah Guthrie is reportedly drawing strict boundaries when it comes to security once she steps inside NBC. Guthrie has returned to her usual seat at Studio 1A after a brief hiatus. Now, sources claim that she wants her workday to feel like work, not like a high-alert operation — and it has allegedly resulted in tighter building security overall, but no personal bodyguard trailing her around the office.

Savannah Guthrie ‘wants to feel normal at work’ amid security arrangements, per source

Rob Shuter’s Naughty But Nice on Substack reported that NBC offered Savannah Guthrie round-the-clock personal security, including a dedicated guard inside 30 Rock and Studio 1A, after she returned to the “Today Show” following her mother, Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance in February. Sources told Shuter that Guthrie declined that level of protection inside the building.

A source claimed, “She doesn’t want a bodyguard sitting outside her office or walking her through the halls.” The insider also added, “She wants to feel normal at work.”

The report emphasized that security allegedly remains present at NBC still. In that, the source claimed, “There is extra security at the show and throughout NBC right now.” They added, “The building is locked down tighter than usual.” The insider further noted, “Access is stricter than ever,” with a rule of “no pass, no entry — no exceptions.”

Moreover, the source claimed, “Even longtime staff are being turned away if they don’t follow protocol. Rules are rules right now.” Yet, Guthrie reportedly insisted that there should be “no private, dedicated security just for Savannah inside her office.”

However, the approach allegedly changes outside of NBC. The source claimed, “Her off-site security is being handled,” though “those details are private.”

After her return to the “Today Show,” Savannah Guthrie allegedly “wants to walk in, do her job, and not feel surrounded by fear.” Although there is reportedly strict security around her, “she’s not giving up her normal life.”
