The Osmonds were one of the first famous boy bands and musical families.

Brothers Alan Osmond, Wayne Osmond, Merrill Osmond and Jay Osmond got their musical start as a barbershop quartet, though they were later joined by younger siblings Donny Osmond and Jimmy Osmond. They rose to fame through the 1970s with hit songs like "One Bad Apple" and a regular slot on The Andy Williams Show, eventually becoming household names and TV regulars.

Their older brothers, George Virl Osmond Jr. and Tom Osmond, were born almost completely deaf and did not originally perform, though they made occasional appearances alongside their siblings. Meanwhile, their only sister, Marie Osmond, wasn't officially part of the band, but launched a successful solo career after her 1973 debut hit "Paper Roses" and largely shaped the Osmond family legacy.

The Osmonds eventually went their separate ways as a band, with several of the brothers pursuing solo careers and Donny beginning to perform with Marie as a duo. In August 2003, they were honored with a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. A few years later, the siblings performed together again for a 50th anniversary reunion special.

On April 20, Alan — the oldest member of The Osmonds — died at 76 years old. The following day, Donny shared a heartfelt tribute to his late brother on Instagram, writing that Alan was "the one who quietly carried so much responsibility so the rest of us could shine."

"Alan was our leader in every sense of the word," Donny's Instagram caption continued. "His tireless work helped build everything we became. I will always be grateful for the sacrifices he made and the love he showed—not just to me, but to every member of our family."

So, where are the members of The Osmonds now? Here's everything to know about their lives and legacies today.

Alan Osmond

Alan, the oldest member of The Osmonds, stepped away from performing nearly 40 years ago after being diagnosed with multiple sclerosis, per CBS affiliate KUTV.

He shifted his focus to philanthropy, helping to create the Children's Miracle Network Telethon — which has raised over $2 billion for children's hospitals — and launch the One Heart Foundation to help support orphans, per ABC4 Utah.

The musician married his wife, Suzanne Osmond, in July 1974. Together, they welcomed eight sons, several of whom pursued music careers of their own.

Alan's family was by his side when he died at 76 years old on April 20. Several of his brothers paid tribute to him in the wake of his death, with Merrill saying in a statement obtained by PEOPLE that he was "grateful to be with him shortly before he passed and to share a final meaningful moment together."

Merrill's statement continued, "Alan was a gifted creator, a man of faith, and a deeply loving soul whose life blessed many."

Wayne Osmond

Years after the music group went their separate ways, Wayne had to navigate a number of health issues. He was diagnosed with a brain tumor in 1997 and lost nearly all of his hearing as a result of the treatment. In 2012, he had a stroke that left him unable to play guitar.

In his personal life, Wayne welcomed five children with his wife, Kathlyn White. In a 2004 interview with Coping with Cancer magazine, Wayne said that his illness "opened up [his] eyes" and made him appreciate life more.

In January 2025, Wayne died following another stroke. His brother Donny confirmed the news on Instagram, writing, "Wayne brought so much light, laughter, and love to everyone who knew him, especially me. He was the ultimate optimist and was loved by everyone."

Wayne's other brothers also paid tribute to him, with Jay calling him a "true legend" in a Facebook post.

Merrill continued making music and went on to become the executive producer of the Donny and Marie Show, The Osmond Family Show and several other television series and specials, per his website. The musician also got involved in charity work and reflected on his past in a September 2025 memoir, titled, Black Bear: My Life Story.

Although mostly retiring from performing in 2022, Merrill took the stage for a few more performances, per his Facebook. More recently, he teased on Facebook in early April 2026 that he will soon release an album titled, Unbroken.

In his personal life, Merrill started a family with his wife Mary, welcoming six children and becoming a grandfather to 15 grandchildren, per his website.

Jay Osmond

As The Osmonds were continuing to release music, Jay briefly stepped away from the group to earn his college degree from Brigham Young University, per his website. He continued to play a big role in their success behind the scenes, producing several of their television specials and programs — and even choreographing several of their performances.

Jay went on to create The Osmonds: A New Musical, which is based on the life and music of their family and premiered in England in 2022.

Per his website, Jay — who is a father of three and married to his wife, Karen — is currently working toward his master's degree.

Donny Osmond

After rising to fame with The Osmonds, Donny paved his own solo career, while also collaborating on several hits with his sister Marie, who had begun forging her way as a country artist.

The sibling duo starred on their widely popular variety show, Donny & Marie, from 1976 until 1979. Once it ended, they went their separate ways professionally but reunited years later for a Vegas residency that ran from 2008 to 2019. During that time, he was also crowned winner of season 9 of Dancing with the Stars.

Donny held several roles on television outside of his variety show, including appearing as a commentator on Entertainment Tonight. In 2024, he returned to the stage in the musical Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat at the Edinburgh Playhouse in Scotland.

Today, Donny continues to make music, releasing his latest album, Start Again, in September 2021. The performer has been headlining a solo residency in Las Vegas, which has been extended through December 2026.

Donny is also a father to five children, who he welcomed with his wife, Debbie Osmond.

Jimmy Osmond

Jimmy, the youngest of The Osmonds, rose to fame with his siblings when he was just a young kid. As he grew older and pursued a solo career, he went on to receive six gold records, one platinum record and two gold albums, per Broadway World.

In addition to some musical theater roles and a reality TV stint, Jimmy became the president of Osmond Entertainment, per The Fayetteville Observer. According to the outlet, he received his honorary doctorate degree of arts and humanities from Iowa Wesleyan College in May 2015.

Jimmy went on to marry his wife Michelle and welcome four children: Sophie, Zachary, Wyatt and Bella.

In recent years, Jimmy has been navigating some health issues after suffering a stroke in December 2019, per BBC. According to the outlet, Merrill said a return to the stage for his brother is "off the cards," noting that he is hoping to spend time with his family.
